Celebrating trans & Non-binary voices

In recognition of the inaugural Trans Pride Exeter on October 4th, we are thrilled to present a new short film that showcases the voices of three trans and non-binary individuals from the 15 Years of Exeter Pride National Lottery funded heritage project.

Ranging from personal memories from the first Exeter Pride march, to addressing the current challenges facing the community, the film aims to illuminate these often marginalised members of the LGBTQ+ community.

But that's not all! You can also listen to Katie share how their journey as a drag king beautifully reinforces their non-binary identity. Plus, Jaz Brown’s extraordinary poem "Arrival" which captures their inspiring journey from attending Exeter Pride as a university student to becoming one of its headline performers.

Engaging with archival materials to create this film has underscored the transformative power of protest in achieving many of the rights we cherish today, including same-sex marriage, adoption rights, and lowering the age of consent to 16.

Currently, trans, non-binary, and intersex individuals are bravely advocating for political, medical, and legal equality in a media landscape that often feels increasingly hostile. They deserve the unwavering support of all their allies.

That's why we wholeheartedly welcome you you to stand with us on October 4th for Trans Pride Exeter’s empowering protest march. Please visit their website www.tpex.uk for more details.
