In our supporting roles, you’re a vital piece of the puzzle, helping shape the direction, strategy, and mission. It involves collaborating with other passionate individuals, contributing your unique skills and perspectives, and making key decisions that drive the Exeter Pride’s activities and values. You could be helping us secure funding, build partnerships, expand reach and run another successful annual Pride event. Whether you’re a part of the community or an ally, we would love to see your passion and give you a warm, welcoming, safe space to share your skills and make a positive impact. We’re looking to fill our more urgent roles, like the Talent Scouts and Fundraising Lead, as soon as possible, and will close the application window in Early August to allow us to hold interviews and fill the roles.

role Descriptions

Supported by the Community Coordinator.
The Fundraising Lead’s role is to create, organise and oversee fundraising events for Exeter Pride.
These will often be ideas from members of the community, businesses or yourself. We’ve done all manner of weird and wonderful fundraising events in the past and we are always open to new ideas.
The Fundraising Lead will be responsible for communicating with those looking to host events and help organise them whilst also ensuring an Exeter Pride presence at them (a stall or pop-up banner with volunteers representing Pride). The Fundraising Lead of course does not have to attend all events. We have a whole army of volunteers but is ideally present personally at larger / high profile events.

• Planning, organising and coordinating fundraising events for Exeter Pride
• Leading the annual online Justgiving campaign
• Setting up / packing down Pride pop-up stalls / banners Cash handling fundraising floats and operating Sum Up card payment machines

Supported by the Volunteer Lead.
The Deputy Volunteer Lead will work closely with the Community Coordinator and Volunteer Lead to support volunteers to work as stewards on Exeter Pride Day. This will involve attending training sessions (1-2 prior to the event) and working on the day as the point of contact for your allocated steward teams. This will involve allocating tasks, responding to queries and liaising with medical and security to triage issues. You will support stewards to sign in / out and be a point of contact for queries.

The Head Steward(s) will work closely with the Volunteer Lead and Deputy Volunteer Lead to support volunteers to work as stewards on Exeter Pride Day. Stewarding Roles

Supported by the Treasurer.
You will be working with the Treasurer and other key Officers to help ensure the smooth running of Exeter Pride and its finances. You will oversee Exeter Pride’s merchandise and collections tins and be the first point of contact for these areas. A role ideal for anyone for wants to assist in the finances and train to take over the role of treasurer in the future :)

• Stock management – storage, purchasing & distribution
• Collection tin management - storage, collections & distribution
• Cash control – invoicing, purchasing, credit control, recording & reporting
• Assist Treasurer and other Committee members as needed
Financial Roles

Supported by the Communications Coordinator.
We are looking for people with expertise in creating digital assets for social media and print form. The designers will be focused on the effective management of the Exeter Pride brand (established in 2023/24). You will be supporting our Comms team to create new digital and physical assets for the charity that are simple, accessible and on -brand. This role requires a creative mind, the ability to use Squarespace and Canva and a drive for keeping our brand fun, relevant, diverse and accessible.

• Creating our key assets each year such as our programme, maps and signage
• Continuing to grow the Exeter Pride brand
• Ensuring consistent use of the Exeter Pride brand

The Website Lead will be responsible for keeping the website up to date and keeping it looking good
too! This isn’t a role requiring a huge number of hours, but it will become busier at key points in the
year when the website needs updating or information needs to go out. If you are creative and enjoy website design, then this is a great opportunity for you! You will be using Squarespace and Canva to support you in your role so good IT skills is required.

Supported by the Communications Coordinator.
Exeter Pride has over 10K followers across its platforms and the Social Media Lead will be responsible for managing the pages on all platforms including Facebook, Bluesky and Instagram. You will be working with the Comms Working Group to create content and post to continue to raise awareness of key issues and support and signpost our partners. Managing the accounts does require a little and often approach.
You will need to check the account regularly but most of the communication is automated or signposting, so quick and easy to manage. You will be the voice of Exeter Pride on social media and help to build on the recent growth of Exeter Pride’s online presence.

• Monitoring Exeter Pride’s Facebook, Instagram & Bluesky accounts
• Posting regularly on all accounts
• Signposting to partners and mailboxes
• Build connections through social media with other groups and organisations

We are beginning a quarterly newsletter that goes out at the beginning of September, December, March and June, supplemented by occasional ‘one-off’ Newsletters e.g., a Pride special. This will contain information about Exeter Pride e.g. when to apply for a stall in the marketplace as well as news about LGBTQ+ events going on in Exeter.
The newsletter is being created to get to a wider audience and to signpost more of the amazing events and activities that are going on across the city.

Supported by the Entertainment Coordinator.
The Stage Lead will work closely with the Entertainment Coordinator and Tech Lead and will be responsible for the running of one of the stages at Pride, keeping to the schedule and to enforce the health and safety standards whilst performers are on stage.

• Decorating and setting up the staging area
• Arrange a stocked green room
• Support Tech Lead in the set-up of any equipment if required
• Ensure a clean up is done between acts
• Liaison with the talent to ensure the stage is set up as required

Supported by the Entertainment Coordinator.
To work closely with the Entertainment Coordinator and Stage Lead in decisions regarding sound and light and will be responsible for ensuring all of the background music, songs and lights are timed correctly to create the desired effect. They will also be working closely with the talent on the day and will need a good knowledge of the running of the day to ensure a smooth flow

Key responsibilities:
• Liaison with the Entertainment Co-ordinator to retrieve all backing tracks and songs including timings for lighting, stage plans.
• To work with the sound and tech company to support them as needed.

To work closely with the Entertainment Coordinator and Stage Leads to ensure that all of the acts are looked after and are well prepared for their performance. The role involves overseeing the green rooms, ensuring acts arrive on time and prepared and liaising with the stage and tech leads for sound checks and riders.

Key responsibilities:
• Liaison with the Entertainment Co-ordinator to familiarise yourself with the artists and running orders
• Liaising with stage and teach leads to ensure sound checks are carried out where requested
• Ensuring there are adequate green rooms for artists back of house
• Being the first point of contact for the artists on the day

Supported by the Entertainment Coordinator.
To work closely with the Entertainment Coordinator to plan and secure a diverse and entraining line up of local talent across multiple performance spaces. The postholders need a good awareness of local artists and will work to build up Exeter Pride’s talent base. They will reach out to artists and work with the Entertainment Cooordinator to propose the line up to committee. This role will be active from September-January when we are arranging the line up then the Stage Leads, Entertainment Coordinators and Talent Liaison will finalise the arrangements.
